737-800NGX FSX

Postby Mark Newby » Thu Jul 11, 2013 12:40 am

I have been working on the PMDG 737NGX today and wanted to give you a little peak at it. Let me know what you think. I will work on it as I get time. This is kind of slow since I am running a 32bit system. Just a side note. As I do not have the PMDG for my FSX (which my computer is too slow to run good) I am probably going to need as least one tester. Any volunteers?

A couple of questions. Do you want a white top or the gray top? I have painted it gray but it can be changed. What registration numbers? I know the US uses N737NA.

Its looking good. I used white for the top, myself. Whatever works best for you. I can test things out for you if you want and let you know how things are looking, as at least I know for me, it is a bit of trial and error getting things to line up. Just to be sure, you are using the NGX paintkit and not the FS9 paintkit right? As there are major differences in the way the 737NG (FS9 plane) and 737 NGX handle the textures. As far as registration, what I did was use an actual reg of the plane in question from the PIREP database. For example, I used N051DF for the E190 as that is an actual Noble US E190 reg.

Thanks for the reply Adam!! I am using the textures for FSX, thanks for making sure. I shall look in the pirep data base for the registration numbers. When I get a little closer to getting it done and ready to put together I shall keep you in mind for a tester.

I look forward to giving her a try. Heh I just wanted to make sure on the paint kit, because I made that mistake once with a plane....and it ended poorly....really poorly . That was about 8 hours of wasted work on my part. I didn't do another paint job for about 8 months after that I was so miffed at myself.

Adam, The first thing I did after I read your first post in reply to this was go look and make sure I was painting the right kit. It is a little slow on this computer sometimes, as I am running a Vista 32bit machine. I have 4 Gigs of ram, but as you well know only 3 Gigs are seen. Most of the time the computer is using a little over 2.6 Gigs, so that makes PhotoShop kind of slow. :D

I was fortunate enough to find a tutorial on YouTube with a guy painting a PMDG 737-900 NGX, so I have been following it and it is pretty good.

Do these need to be saved as DDS files or can they be saved as an extended bitmap? I know you said you saved yours as an extended bitmap that's why I am asking.

If I get to work on it this weekend I may try and get it ready to send to you and anyone else who wants to give me some feedback next week. I am thinking it is probably going to be a pretty big file.

All of the PMDG NGX Textures I have seen are in DDS format.

Thanks!! That's what I thought.

I have another little tease for everyone. The tail and engines are painted. Got to: http://s626.photobucket.com/user/commpi ... sort=3&o=0

To see them.
