On the 28th of August 2013, John McKeon (a long standing Noble Member of London Hub) passed away.
To those that knew him, John (or Jmac as he was fondly known) was a wealth of information about the Douglas DC-3.
In his honour, and as a memorium of the anniversary of his passing we will fly DC-3s from Gatwick to Weston airport (located 8mi from Dublin, Ireland).
EGKK - EIWT
Distance: 266 NM
Flight Speed: 150 Knots (G/S)
Flight Time: 126 Mins (2 hrs 6 mins)

London (United Kingdom - England) Saturday, 23AUG 2014 at 9:00:00 PM BST
(start planning now to keep this date free..)
Both FS9 and FSX have default DC-3s, and if you have Prepar3D you can use this one: (DC-3 Download)
Just unzip the file and drop the folder into the simobjects/airplanes in P3D.
There are also some very good payware ones available.
More information about the DC-3 can be found here: (DC-3 Information)
The default DC-3s (including the link above) do not have transponders, when ATC gives you a squawk code, in the chat box of your connection software type: .x 1234 (replace 1234 with the code given by ATC).
For those with FSX and P3D.. here is an upgraded scenery file for EIWT: (EIWT Download)
Just unzip the file and drop the folder into your addon scenery folder, then add the area to the scenery library.

How do I navigate without an FMC?.. (for you jet jockeys!)
Tune NAV1 to the first VOR.. fly towards the needle, until the needle flicks the opposite way..
then tune NAV1 to the next VOR.. and fly towards the needle..
keep repeating until you arrive at the destination (Last VOR)..
then land.. Sorry .. NO ILS!

Re: John McKeon Memorial Flight
Roger asked me if I would paint the default FSX DC3, this is what I have come up with so far. There is no paint kit for the DC3 that I know of, this is a noble air version of the emerald air. Best I can come up with on short notice , if every one is happy with the paint I will package it up & make it available cheers Phill
Any suggestions to add anything or delete anything please don't hold back, it is the memorial flight for Jmac after all.

Re: John McKeon Memorial Flight
Looks very good to me, it keeps that vintage look but still has our colours
It may not be possible, but can the lion be added to the fin. Also I know it is a big ask, but can you do the same to the FS9 version. ED assures us that the FSX works OK with P3D.
With very many thanks
Roger

Only if you download the link on the original post.. as it has all the gauges and sounds installed ready to go.
Then you can add the paint as you normally would...
BTW.. love the paint scheme!

Re: John McKeon Memorial Flight
I placed the yellow lion on the tail Roger ,I didn't like it so I removed it. Maybe a red lion, where exactly would you like the lion "just the rudder?" or over the entire fin? colour? position? have a think about it & reply here. Not sure if I can do the FS9 version ,I only have FSX installed on my pc .

Re: John McKeon Memorial Flight
Hi Phill,
I think the yellow lion would look great preferably over the whole fin if practical. I quite understand about the FS9 version, most of us will be on FSX or P3D.
Thanks once again
Roger
